Our fourth grade students had a great time learning about art and literacy at the High Museum this week! They experienced the I See Literacy Tour during our visit which teaches students how to read artwork in the same way we read text by looking carefully at the artwork to see its details and making inferences based on what you see. They also participated in a hands on workshop to illustrate their own book cover inspired by an actual work of art from the museum! Way to go students!

Our students had an awesome day visiting the Atlanta Botanical Gardens while connecting art, language arts and science! While viewing the sculptures of glass artist, Dale Chihuly, students created alliterations, wrote Haikus, used persuasive writing and more while writing about the art they viewed. Students also took time to sketch and create drawings while viewing these amazing works of art! Of course we also connected science to our trip with all of the plants and even the poison dart frogs that students enjoyed seeing in the Fuqua Conservatory and Orchid Center.

4th Grade Fieldtrip to the High Museum of Art
Fourth graders attended a fieldtrip to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta this week and participated in the I See Literacy Tour where they learned more about reading works of art as you would read text. Our students are very fortunate to have the opportunity to go to the High each year in fourth grade since 2005! A great time was had by all students and teachers as well!
