Chihuly Bowls

Second Grade students have been learning about glass sculptor Dale Chihuly in art class as well as radial symmetry. Students first drew their own radial designs and then transferred the drawings onto clear shrink film. The film was then cut out and placed into a toaster oven to create our one of a kind faux glass bowls! The students are amazed by the technique and love seeing how each piece is so unique! Such a great lesson in creativity!

Organic Wire Sculptures

Fourth graders learned about British sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth and their abstract organic closed forms as they created their own abstract sculptures. Color mixing and blending was then demonstrated by students as they completed their unique works if art.

Beverly Buchanan Shacks

First graders learned about artist Beverly Buchanan from Athens, Georgia, and her drawings, paintings, and sculptures of shacks. Using their knowledge of 3-dimensional forms, line, color, and texture, students then created their own works of art.
