Cornbread Inspired Owls

Second-grade students made these beautiful owl drawings while incorporating emphasis, texture, space, and neutral colors. They learned about the Georgia folk artist Cornbread during this lesson and had so much fun making these creative works of art!

Contour Instrument Drawings

Our fifth grade students having been busy creating these amazing contour instrument drawings in art class! They are learning about contour lines, emphasis, complementary and analogous colors as well as Op Art! Way to go 5th grade!!!

Our students are having so much fun finding themselves in our colorful hallway display! All of Mrs. Nail’s art students created a self-portrait and then and used a monochromatic color design to complete their beautiful drawings!

Open Studio in the Art Room!

Students are enjoying having our open studio time this school year to catch up on their art projects or simply extend their creativity each morning in the art room! I'm so proud of their hard work and dedication!

Radical Radial Weavings

Third graders are rocking out these radical radial weavings! They are busy learning all about weaving techniques while making beautiful works of art and incorporating a variety of colors schemes into their designs as well!

Art Museum Perspective Drawings

During this lesson students learned about American artist, Norman Rockwell, and his famous illustrations. They used two-point perspective to create these wonderful museum paintings and then inserted a digital self-portrait into their work to make it appear as if they are viewing the art in their own museum designs.

4th Graders Visit the High Museum of Art

Our fourth grade students had a great time learning about art and literacy at the High Museum this week! They experienced the I See Literacy Tour during our visit which teaches students how to read artwork in the same way we read text by looking carefully at the artwork to see its details and making inferences based on what you see. They also participated in a hands on workshop to illustrate their own book cover inspired by an actual work of art from the museum! Way to go students!
