African Mask Collographs

   Third grade students learned about African masks and the clay masks designed by local Georgia artist Kimmy Cantrell during this lesson. Next, students planned and designed their own masks and created collographs to use for printmaking.

Clay Owl Sculptures

Second grade students demonstrated their knowledge of how to create pinch pots, coils, slabs, and visual and implied texture as they created these beautiful clay owls.




Clay Fossils

Kindergarten students learned about the formation of fossils in art class and the similarities and differences in clay and fossils. They pressed objects into clay slabs to create their own fossil-like sculptures.

5th Grade Gesture Sculptures

Fifth Grade students studied gesture drawings and the sculptures of George Segal. Students then created their own gesture sculptures showing a specific activity or feeling using aluminum foil. Shadows of the sculptures as well as patterns were added to the base to complete these exciting works of art!

O'Keeffe Inspired Flowers and Leaves with Percolator App


4th grade students first studied the life and artwork of American artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Students studied images of flowers and leaves and created their own close up drawings using water soluble oil pastels. Next, students uploaded their drawings into the Percolator app using iPads in the art classroom to create these fabulous digital art images!
